A common inter-tidal mollusc A. Constricta has a vast geographical distribution within Australia, found throughout most coastal regions (Creese & Underwood, 1976). These invertebrates inhabit rock platforms, estuaries and marine lake systems occupying a characteristic level between the low tide mark and the splash zone of marine shorelines.
